Audi R8 With A Dual-Clutch Transmission

Audi is preparing some mechanical improvements to the coupe and convertible R8, or the German carmaker resorted Doc Brown to build a time machine. Covered with sensors and enough instruments to package a lunar mission, these tests R8 mules are reportedly testing the real dual clutch transmission.

Until now, the Audi R8 comes with an optional manual R tronic automated single clutch. The transmission has been frequently criticized for its strange and sudden shifts operations, when coupled with the 4.2-liter V-8 engine. These two tests were seen R8s Audi and Austrian Alps, according to our sources, in a stretch of road, often used to test the brakes and transmissions. Sensors on each wheel indicate that Audi’s engineers need to know exactly what is happening in all corners of the car. A peek in the cabin reveals multiple computers signed in the passenger seat. One button electronic parking brake, located on the center console also happens to be located beside the parking brake lever conventional.

If you brush up on your German, then you may have noticed the sign that reads R8 coupe “Kupplung sehr empfindlich” This warns drivers that the clutch is sensitive and caution is advised. This is perhaps the strongest indication that a version of Audi’s dual clutch transmission renowned automatic (DSG) is actually being prepared for the seductive mid-engine sports car. Although these two test vehicles appear very rough in terms of finishing (and the amount of equipment on board).
